Cold sores on the lips after sex
HELP! My husband and I just recently
got back together after a 2 yr.
seperation. He only had one partner
during this time and swears there
was no problem. The problem is I
get cold sores on my lips after we
have sex. This has happened the last
five times. He has had fever blisters
at some point in his life but I have
not seen any visible sores on his
lips during this time. I do not
perform oral sex on him. Could it
be possible that a lot of hard
kissing could cause recurrence of
the virus as I had cold sores as a
child. As I said he has not had a sore
any of these times. Anybody have any
idea what would cause this this
many times. Can the virus be re
activated every time you come in
contact with it. You would think
I would be immuned by now. I need
some answers. THANKS!

Hi Carol451,
if I may offer you a simple answer, recurrences are related with your health condition, not with the quantity of sex.
The healthier we are, the stronger our immune system, the less likely we are to have herpes episode.
So what I usually do, to keep my health on top condition, I take supplement like H-Boost Herbal Immune Booster because its natural ingredients have each been clinically proven the body's immune response to the herpes virus. But should I feel an outbreak is coming, I use HSV-Zero to prevent it

I have tried several of herpes treatment and not have good result. I normally got cold sore at the side of my mouth that ends up scabbing over and taking about 10 days to heal. I found HSV Zero and had success with it. With HSV Zero it can be reduced to 3 days or sometimes less to heal. The product has lemon balm as the main ingredient. And DMSO as the pain relief and to kill virus.

Hay,
The first thing that I want to say is, Don't have sex with your partner while you are suffering with Herpes, by this what happens is the disease that is there in one persone spreads to other also, so it is good .avoid sex while this time.
I suppose that it could
I suppose that it could trigger it -- in fact, I'd take your experience as fairly strong evidence that it can! I wouldn't have thought that just kissing could cause it, though. I mean, having sex doesn't trigger genital herpes every time, and that seems like it's a lot more abrasive than any kissing short of actually chewing each other's lips steadily for 10 or 15 minutes. Is the kissing THAT heavy?
You learn something new every day. Or, in this case, I learned something new.

I get sores if I chew at my lips when they get dry.
Irritation caused by friction seems to cause my cold sores for the most part so no, it's not the sex. It's the kissing. Kissing causes dragging and dragging is friction- what you do after the kissing is not related in any way shape or form.
Cold sores and herpes outbreaks.
Some out breaks are due to UV light exposure. Like if you tan in a tanning bed. If you are prone to getting cold sores you thing may be from the irritation from kissing, I would have to say probably. I am only speaking from general experience. I have outbreaks, not genital, but on other parts of my body and it does matter if I scratch that area or tan in the sun or tanning bed without covering that particual area with a rag or piece of cloth. Around my waist? If I only scratch there I will breakout. It seems that whatever area it chooses to show itself does seem to be more tender then other parts of your lips for instance. Sorry to hear about your problem as I know this can be very painful and aggrivating until the blister or blisters go away. Hope you get well soon, Blisters.
Clarification and answer
Hello again,
Thanks for clarifying. When in your first post you write "You would think I would be immuned by now" it does seem that that you were not aware that Oral Herpes is for life so I though t I would start with the basics.
To (hopefully) answer your question: Yes, it is entirely likely that your cold sore outbreaks are triggered by heavy kissing.
Kind regards,
iv
ALREADY KNEW THIS
Thanks IV for responding, however,
I alreay knew all that you told
me. My question was, can skin
irritation from kissing on the
lips reactivate cold sores. I know
you can get them several times
a month or year but is it specific
to when I'm having sex?
It's for lie
Hi Carol,
Welcome to HerpesDoctor.
Once you've caught Oral Herpes - cold sores, it stays in your body for life although it may be years before you have an outbreak. You may experience only 1 outbreak in a lifetime or several a month, it depends entirely on the individual. So you could have passed it on to your husband years ago.
I recommend you read our background material on Cold Sores aka Oral Herpes.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
iv
