Herpes on my buttocks and lower back-- never in genital area

I have an outbreak every two or three months on my right buttock cheek or at the base of my lower back, right above my buttocks--

However, I never have any breakouts on my penis or in my genital area-- and, I do check closely when I do feel the symptoms of an upcoming outbreak and actual outbreak.

My question is: If the outbreak is "only" on my buttocks and nowhere to be found in my genital area, can my woman still get it IF she DOES NOT touch my buttock area that's infected?

In other words, if it's not on my penis or groin area, and I have intercourse, can the virus or shedding spread FROM my penis fluid or skin cells in my groin area to her?

    Is it possible it's SHINGLES?

    Is it possible it's SHINGLES?

I have had it for about 4

I have had it for about 4 years. My GF didnt even know she had it, she just thought it was pimples. It's really the most basic disease, I've only had three outbreaks in that timeframe. They are pretty much pimples that don't pop easily or not at all, they last at least a week, and when they heal they look flaky or crusty. Some people get them in a big clump, which is a big indicator, but I get them sporadically, sometimes on my thighs, butt, and forearms, but never around my genital area strangely. If you get it, it's natural to freak out, but it's not that scary. What's scary is thinking about how many times you would have gone on having unprotected sex, potentially getting something that is actually life-threatening. It's really stupid to have unprotected sex with someone who is untested. It doesn't matter if they've only had sex once, how nice they are, whatever you feel about the person it all doesn't matter. I consider getting herpes a blessing in disguise, because now I can't afford to play dumb anymore.

To answer the original question, can you still spread it if it's not in the genital area. Yes, but not as easily. Men have about an 8% chance of spreading the virus, women is about half that. Wearing condoms cuts down those odds by like 50-60%. My best advice, if you know you have it, always wear a condom with an untested partner, and don't have sex when you have an outbreak. You won't have to worry and you most likely will never pass it along. Best of luck! The cure is coming soon, quite possibly in the next 10-20 years.

I hope not....but would you all happen to have any advise??

I have the same thing on my

I have the same thing on my tailbone region. I've had it for 25 years. I am married, and have never passed this onto anyone. It is very painful, especially when the nerve in my legs are affected. I take Valcyclovir when I have an outbreak, and it lessens the pain, and the duration of the outbreak. I will say that this would be the last thing you would want to tell anyone about. The social stigma is ridiculous at best! Hang in there people, there is life (and love) after herpes! I also had children in my home during these outbreaks, sitting on the same toilet seat as me, and they never contracted it. My husband has no symptoms, and we have been married 12 years. We do not use condoms, I'm just very careful. When I have an outbreak..it's hands off for the husband, until I am healed up. The Valcyclovir makes the duration shorter, 3-5 days..instead of the usual 10 days to two weeks.

I think that may be the guy

I think that may be the guy that infected me, sounds so stupid to be duped like that but I swear that is exactly what happend.

    Report him to the health

Report him to the health department.  Give all details and tell them that he is spreading it.

if everybody who had it came

if everybody who had it came out in the open. I think it would help...but its too hard...for the average person, it is psychologically damaging.

yes, I have genital herpes, I

yes, I have genital herpes, I had one outbreak and it has not come back.
When people find out that I have been exposed to herpes, they completely freak out like I have HIV!
It is absolutely ridiculous! Herpes is a skin condition, THAT IS IT! it doesn't scar and there is medication to control it. Yes there is a risk of contracting it,
but anyone who has sex is at risk! That is why it is wise to use condoms and if you have herpes, take an anti-viral like Valtrex.
My boyfriend gave it to me and he did not know that he had it! He was very sorry that he gave to me but we talked it over and we both knew that we would be okay.
Did you know that Chicken Pox is also a herpes virus that can come back later in life as Shingles? Most kids get chicken pox and yes you can get chicken pox on your genitals to!
This stigma around herpes has got to stop, seriously people, no one is perfect!

    yes...I agree...it is

    yes...I agree...it is absurd...but it is a reality....human beings are not rational....
