My wife now has genital herpes
My Wife and I have been married for 25 years, and together for 26 years. A couple years ago, she told me we would have to abstain from sex because she had a sore in her genital area. She went to her Gyn. who confirmed it was genital herpes. We both had to get a blood test, and she came back positive, however I was negative (for g. herpes). Since that time she will get outbreaks every 1-2 months. My question is, is she having an affair? She claims she must have contacted it before we got together. Thanks for all responses.

This is a great passage to read. I was recently diagnosed after 11 years of marriage and thought my husband would accuse me of infidelity or run for the hills. He just simply said- please do not worry about it. I asked him to get tested and he said he would rather not that it was embarressing and that we would just work around it. I felt touched that he was so sweet about it and reacted the opposite of what I thought. It really took the depression of the news away and made me feel good that he was so supportive!

I was just diagnosed with HSV-2. Tests show it is not recent. I have never had symptoms until now. I have been with my husband for 4 yrs, 9 mos. and he tested negative. I have never been unfaithful and, he cannont understand how I could be positive for at least 5 years and not have passed it to him. He now thinks I am unfaithful and I AM NOT! What is the medical explanation for having the virus this long and never passing it to him?

Did you have sex with someone prior to your husband? chances are you were infected then, and not by the teacher passing the toilet paper! the herpes virus is a somewhat of a weak virus and can not live without its human host for then a few seconds. You can do antigen specific testing that will determine if it is HSV1 or HSVII. Yes it is unfair, I don't think any one wants to get herpes! I was just diagnosed with HSVII and was given this lucky gift by a boyfriend who lied about his sexual past and status. It happens - I can do nothing about his dishonesty - but I can choose to keep myself healthy and limit outbreaks, which you can too. Ignore it, put it in the back of your mind and live your life - it is not the end of the world!

I know exactly how you feel. I have been with my boyfriend for a little over a year, we live together and everything. I just recently got symptoms and was tested positive for herpes. We have unprotected sex, but it just doesnt make sense, unless someone cheated. I have never cheated and i asked him and he said he didnt. I feel hurt and upset. I'm not sure what to think, if he cheated or not. because herpes infections can be latent for an extremely long time and sometimes never even show up so i dont know what to think. I have tons of stress with being in medical school and my brain isin't always paying attention to whats going on 100 %. UGH.

My goodness, I just found out I have Genital Herpes!!!! Dear god. I was shocked! I have been on and off with the same sex partner. I told him I tested positive and he said he didnt think he would have it. He gets his results on Monday. Is it possible that he may show negative? Iit was so hard sharing with him that I tested positive. I remember when we first began having intercourse and noticing some red rash on the tip of his penis. I asked him if he was okay and he said he was fine. This was a person I have known for years, Never did I expect this...I am so afraid that I have tested positive for Genital Herpes and he will come out negative...
