STDs, Treatment and Protection during Pregnancy
The following are all STDs that can be treated and cured through antibiotics during pregnancy:
- Chlamydia
- Syphilis
- Gonorrhea
- Trichomoniasis
- Bacterial vaginosis
There isn’t a cure for the viral STDs like HIV or genital herpes. The one thing that can be done though is the antiviral medications that would normally be taken can be appropriate for a pregnant woman that has herpes and is definitely appropriate for someone with HIV. A woman that tests negative for Hepatitis B might receive the vaccination or it during their pregnancy. HIV and Active Genital Herpes For a woman that has an active genital herpes lesion at the time of delivery most likely a C-Section is going to be done in order to prevent the newborn from being infected with the herpes simplex virus. The C-Section is also an option for an infected woman with HIV. Protecting Yourself from Infection The best way to make sure that you avoid the transmission of an STD is to make sure that you either abstain from sex, or to be in a long-term and reciprocally monogamous bond with a partner that’s also had complete STD testing and is known from the testing to be an uninfected person. Using a latex condom each and every time correctly is going to be a very effective way to prevent the transmission of HIV, the virus that leads to AIDs. They can also, assuming they’re being used correctly and consistently, can reduce the transmission of:
- Gonorrhea
- Chlamydia
- Trichomoniasis
- Syphilis
- Chancroid
- Herpes
In regards to herpes and chancroid that only works when the site of infection of the potential of exposure is protected by the condom. Any unprotected skin to skin contact will not protect. Whenever you have sex outside of a completely monogamous relationship always wear a condom.
Inform yourself prior to sexual activities. Talk to your Doctor or a trained Certified Nursing Assistant about sex safety.

Knowingly passing it on just
Knowingly passing it on just due to the fact that you don't like to wear condoms is very bad. You should always wear a condom now whether you like it or not and you need to tell your sexual partners that you have herpes and let them make the decision. You can get on antivirals and watch your stress level and diet to avoid outbreaks.
